Blood Type O

The genotype (allele combination) of a person with blood type O is OO. For a male with blood type O, 100% of his sperms are genotype O. For female, all the eggs are genotype O. All Children of two blood type O parents are blood type O too. For detailed calculation, see Blood Type Calculator page.

ABO blood group system can be used together with Rh blood group system, the later can be + or -. Blood type O can be O+ or O-.

Blood type O+ can only accept blood from O+ and O- donor's red blood cell.
Blood type O- can only accept blood from O- Donor's red blood cell.
Blood type O+ donor's red blood cell can be accepted by A+, B+, AB+, O+ recipients.
Blood type O- donor's red blood cell can be accepted by all other blood types.

However, Blood type O can accept blood from all other blood type donor's plasma.
Blood type O donor's plasma can only be accepted by another blood type O recipient.
Blood type O has highest frequency in Latin America compared to other region, where >90% of the population are type O, and less frequent especially in Asia and East Europe, where about 55% of the population are type O.
